A mother crossing the road with her child wasn't enough to protect her child from being struck by a car while crossing an intersection in Florida. The boy, 9, was taken to a local hospital where he is in critical condition.

The 19-year-old driver struck the child, who was riding his bike as he crossed an intersection with his mother. The boy and his mother were not in a crosswalk when the accident occurred and the driver did see the child, but he wasn't able to stop in time and ended up crashing into him.

Pedestrian-car accidents happen every day and can have serious consequences for everyone involved. If you have been injured in a car accident in Florida, you may be entitled to a settlement that covers:

  • Past and future medical bills and expenses.
  • Lost wages for missing work along with future earning potential.
  • You may be able to collect permanent disability.
  • Pain and suffering along with disfigurement and scarring.

Obtaining adequate compensation for these expenses can be difficult and the insurance company may not be willing to pay you what you are entitled to and in cases where a driver has no insurance, it could be hard for you to get your insurance to protect you. In these instances, you should contact a personal injury attorney. They understand the emotional, physical and financial strain that can go along with such an injury and can work with you to protect you from low settlement offers and work to get you the compensation that you deserve.

As for this accident, police are still investigating the crash and no new details have been released. Currently, there are no charges pending against the driver.
