Orange County residents know that driving in busy traffic can be very stressful. In such situations, it is especially important to pay close attention to sudden and subtle changes in traffic, and to try to look out for all other vehicles in or near the roadway. In order to prevent car accidents and serious injuries, individuals who get behind the wheel of a car must demonstrate a reasonable degree of caution toward other drivers, no matter the size or type of their vehicles.

With these issues in mind, Orlando residents may be saddened to hear of a fatal car accident that occurred recently on the John Young Parkway during the early-morning hours. A scooter was travelling southbound ahead of a vehicle driven by a 32-year-old male from Orlando. The driver of the car evidently did not notice the scooter on the road ahead of him and barreled into the smaller vehicle. The 32-year-old scooter driver was killed. A recent news report indicated that that the man was deceased at the scene of the collision.

What is more, the car accident was a hit-and-run. The driver of the car ran away on foot to his home, which was close to the scene of the accident. He was later arrested at his home for leaving the scene of a fatal car crash. The Florida Highway Patrol is continuing its investigation, and it seems probable that additional charges will be filed against the apparently negligent driver.

This accident, like many others, underscores the need for vigilance when operating a motor vehicle. Car accidents occur in Orange County every day. In this instance, the family of the deceased victim will likely want answers as to cause of the incident itself, as well as to the decision of the driver to leave their loved one dead or dying on the parkway after apparently causing the crash. It would appear the family has grounds to pursue a wrongful death lawsuit against the driver. Such a lawsuit cannot bring back a loved one who has died, but there may be some measure of solace in holding responsible parties accountable for their actions.
